In recognition of the National Retail Federation’s 100th year hosting its Annual Convention in New York City, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has proclaimed “National Retail Week.”
NRF’s Convention opened Sunday, January 9 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center to more than 18,500 attendees and 600 exhibiting companies. NRF welcomes representatives from nearly 70 different countries as well.??
“NRF’s success largely comes from the thousands of retail companies we advocate for and who support us, and we are honored to share this with them,” said NRF president and CEO Matthew Shay. “We’d like to thank our members and guests for sharing in this special 100th anniversary of retail’s Big Show.” ??
In the proclamation, Mayor Bloomberg recognized the impact NRF’s convention has on the New York City economy, this year expecting to bring in $27.4 million in economic impact, according to NYC & Co. Additionally, the proclamation acknowledges the deep-rooted history of NRF, having begun as the Dry Goods Association and now known as the world’s largest retail advocacy group.
