Medpricer, a leading purchased services cost management service for the healthcare industry, recently shared best practices healthcare organizations can implement to support healthcare sourcing.

According to spokesmen, the healthcare supply chain is often misunderstood, underinvested and faces constant changes with the M&A movement from healthcare systems and suppliers alike.

Rather than just affecting the organization's bottom line, the supply chain has the unique opportunity to also improve the quality of services for patients and the work environment for clinicians, spokesmen added.

Mickey Meehan, the company's vice president of products and marketing told SCMR in an interview, that the service has been domestic at this point.

“Although we are open to penetrating new markets, right now our primary focus is helping national healthcare systems,” he said.

With “bi-partisan politics” and corporate lobbyists at play, American healthcare providers face mounting regulations and declining reimbursements for the ever-increasing cost of care, he added.

“These challenges place a significant burden on healthcare providers to seek alternative revenue streams. Our goal at Medpricer is to elevate the success of the healthcare supply chain so that our clients can improve the lives and outcomes of the patients and communities they serve. We help hospitals improve spend management and transform provider-supplier relationships through scalable business strategies.”
