As our guest blogger, Robert Rudzki, has already noted here recently, this year’s ISM international conference may be the best in several years.
ISM organizers agree, reporting that the number of confirmed registrants has exceeded expectations. I will be among the media professionals attending the seminars and forums, and I’m especially looking forward to Rudzki’s presentation, “Leading Supply Management Transformation: Key Success Factors & Pitfalls ion: Best Practices & Key Factors.”
Rudzki, President of Greybeard Advisors and a former Fortune 500 CPO, will begin by asking a few critical questions:
* How many North American businesses have failed during the past 10 years?
*What is the “life expectancy” of corporations?
*How do you determine if your organization is already among the “walking wounded?”
If these questions don’t make us feel a wee bit uncomfortable, perhaps Rudzki’s “startling reality” will:
*More than 600,000 North American businesses filed bankruptcy in a recent 10 year period
*Several studies have concluded that the life expectancy of corporations is less than 50 years
*Many of today’s “profitable” businesses gradually are liquidating themselves by not earning cost of capital (they are already the “walking wounded”)
*Lacking active intervention, most companies will inevitably fail, for a variety of reasons.
Fortunately, this presentation drives toward a positive conclusion, with “transformational” steps leading to the creation of a management roadmap.
Other equally enlightening talks will be given through the course of ISM’s annual event, and SCMR will be on hand to capture exclusive market intelligence to share with our readers.
Hopefully, I’ll see many of your there.
