“De-Mystifying Economics”

During the course of my undergraduate and graduate studies, I took a number of economics courses. I have had the “hard lessons” of history presented by professors of many different backgrounds, and different political leanings.

For those of you who had similar opportunities to learn about the art and science of economics, the current “politicization” of economics probably seems baffling. Were none of the extremists (on both sides of the aisle) awake during basic economics classes? Maybe they never took an economics course as part of their graduation requirements.

As I reflected on the current debate, I happened to spot a well-written synopsis of the subject:

Written by the Director of the well-respected Congressional Budget Office, it responds to a freshman congressman’s request for an understanding of the effects of government spending on economic growth. It is well worth your time.
