In this episode of Talking Supply Chain, host Brian Straight speaks with Shabbir Dahod, CEO of supply chain orchestration firm TraceLink about how artificial intelligence is transforming the pharmaceutical supply chain.
Dahod explains TraceLink’s mission to digitalize end-to-end pharmaceutical operations, including the recent milestone of achieving full serialization across the U.S. supply chain. He highlights two new TraceLink products: MINT, which integrates supply chain movement data with business transaction data for better planning and recall precision, and POET, which supports collaborative human-to-human processes across supply chain partners. These innovations, Dahod notes, pave the way for meaningful AI adoption, particularly in regulated environments like life sciences.
The conversation focuses on how generative AI and agentic AI will automate routine tasks, improve agility, and enhance predictive capabilities in supply chains. Dahod emphasizes that AI’s effectiveness depends on digital maturity and tight controls. TraceLink, he notes, builds guardrails around AI usage to ensure safety, transparency, and human oversight. As AI agents take on responsibilities such as order tracking, inventory management, and regulatory compliance, human workers are freed to focus on strategic decision-making. Dahod predicts that as AI becomes embedded in more devices and processes—much like microprocessors once did—it will dramatically reshape how people interact with technology and manage supply chains.
