In the world of third-party logistics (3PL), much of the focus is on cost. Shippers want lower rates. Carriers want higher rates. And the 3PL tries to balance those two dynamics to keep everyone happy.
But there is a new 3PL that is trying to change the script on what a 3PL is about. Toronto-based MonarKonnect opened its doors earlier this year promising a more human-centric approach to providing 3PL services.
“We’re really focusing on learning more about certain businesses and how they operate. Why it is that they operate in that way and come up with solutions with out-of-the-box thinking to better their operations,” explained Kataryna Wnek, co-founder of the firm.
Wnek joined the Talking Supply Chain podcast to explain MonarKonnect’s business model and why she thinks its approach to customers will be an attractive proposition for many. She explained that the company is looking for build lasting relationships through a “kind heart.” That means engaging with customers in a way that understands their challenges and needs, and crafting solutions that address those.
“Our vision was really to be a very client-centric company that offers more than just moving the freight,” she said. “The way I could put it is attention is the rarest and purest kind of generosity. So we really wanted to offer more than just a truck, a good price, and that’s it. We didn't want to do that. We really wanted to assist potential customers or finding companies that are having trouble sorting out their logistics. And they didn’t really know how that aspect of their operations would work. And that’s where we would come in. And yeah, we call ourselves the logistic architects.”
Wnek herself has an interesting background, joining the logistics business from the music industry. Hear why she turned in her musical background for a life in logistics and the backstory of meeting her co-founder, Matthew Zarzycki.
