As reported in Supply Chain Management Review, Oracle OpenWorld was another rousing success, featuring several new technology roll outs for our readers.
In an interview with Jon Chorley, CSO & GVP SCM Product Strategy at Oracle, we learn a bit more about the event and its implications for our sector.
Supply Chain Management Review: From a supply chain perspective, what were the most common questions people had for you from Oracle OpenWorld?
Jon Chorley: People were really interested in learning: How to best plan for, sequence or begin a path to the cloud – many don't know where to start. They were also interested in hearing our customers' stories: What do the experiences of our customers, (who are already on this journey), consist of?
SCMR: What were the main supply chain take-aways that Oracle wanted to impart?
Chorley: Oracle R13 update is GA and with that, Oracle has further extended its lead next generation cloud solutions.
Here are some other points we should make:
- SCM is undergoing unprecedented disruptive changes largely driven by technology advancements such as AI, IOT, Blockchain - it's vital for all businesses to evaluate, prepare for, and leverage these changes so as to connect the digital thread across the value chain.
- Oracle SCM Cloud provides an integrated set of capabilities that connect the digital thread across your enterprise and your value chain - and provides a cloud platform that delivers a continuous stream of innovations.
SCMR: Your upcoming supply chain event in San Jose is really focused on specific industry challenges. Can you tell us how “the table was set” at Oracle OpenWorld?
Chorely: Although Oracle's Modern Supply Chain Experience (MSCE) is in late January, we wanted to provide supply chain professionals at Oracle OpenWorld the foundation of what we hope to continue to discuss at MSCE. Oracle SCM Cloud, R13 update is now done and delivered. We really would like to focus and exploit our thought leading innovations and showcase our services as tried and true business solutions.
