American Worldwide Agencies (AWA), a global network of freight forwarders and agents based in Long Beach, recently announced that it has grown exponentially since launching its service last year.
The core markets addressed by the forwarder are in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand. This niche, said is AWA, is huge, but underdeveloped.
“Australia’s growth certainly looks promising as it works to control its spending and cost of living,” noted AWA CEO Andrew Scott in an interview. “In fact, Australia’s economy will likely grow stronger with the recent AUD drop of 10% and it will need to adjust even more to be in line with the global markets.”
According to Scott, the region’s mining boom on exports will help, but it is having an effect on importers.
“As Australia’s population expands, they are sourcing more and more goods from the U.S. and other regions so the supply chain is key,” he said.
AWA’s “Aussie-One” is designed bring together an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the markets supported by a team of regional experts who provide a full scope of services on both ends, Scott added.
He observed, for example, that Perth to Sydney is the equivalent of Los Angeles to Atlanta in distance, “but with a much smaller population and challenging layers of infrastructure to maneuver through.”
The United States is Australia’s fifth largest merchandise export market and our most important market for services. It is Australia’s largest import source for services and second largest import source for merchandise. The United States is the largest investor in Australia.
According to the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia is the ninth largest provider of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States. The United States is one of the top five source countries for visitors to Australia in terms of numbers and expenditure.
