President Donald Trump views tariffs as a way to boost American industry and create manufacturing jobs. But can it happen? That is being hotly debated these days.
One of the people that has some unique insight into this conversation is Rosemary Coates. Coates is the founder and executive chairman of the Reshoring Institute, president and founder of Blue Silk Consultant, a columnist for Supply Chain Management Review, and host of the Frictionless Supply Chain podcast. She has spent much of her career working with companies that engage with China and other nations. And for the last 11 years, has led the Reshoring Institute that assists businesses looking to bring manufacturing back to the U.S.
She joined the Talking Supply Chain podcast to talk about tariffs, what companies can do today, what policy might bring back jobs, and answer a few rapid-fire questions, including whether she thinks tariffs will be in effect one year from now. She also highlighted what executives said in a recent Reshoring Institute survey about how they are approaching tariffs.
Join Coates and podcast host Brian Straight as they explore the impact tariffs are having, and whether they will result in more U.S. manufacturing jobs.
