When I was a Chief Procurement Officer, I participated in a number of CPO peer groups. One of the very best was sponsored by MAPI (Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation). MAPI has numerous councils, including a CEO Council, a Division Leadership Council, and functional councils such as a CFO Council and a Purchasing Council to name just a few.
Recently, I had the pleasure of joining MAPI's Division Leadership Council, comprised principally of business unit presidents, and contributing to the discussion. The topic: how to optimize supply management synergies when acquiring another business.
