CargoWise spokesmen announced Mexican freight forwarder Evolucion Logistics has adopted a hosted version of ediEnterprise in its head office following an implementation process.

Based in the city of Monterrey, Evolucion Logistics has five offices in Mexico and a branch in Houston, Texas. The initial implementation covers its corporate headquarters, and the company will subsequently rollout the software to its other offices.

“When we began to assess our processes, we became aware that they were very inefficient,” said Fabiola Govea, Operations Manager for Evolucion Logistics. “Working together with CargoWise, however, we’ve been able to document our processes and adapt what we needed to achieve the more efficient processes contained within ediEnterprise,” he said. “We had worked with a series of software providers in the past for both logistics and accounting, but they all fell short of our requirements, and as such we needed to develop internal processes to fulfill our operational requirements.”

One of the key drivers of the project, according to Govea, was the need to operate the entire company off a single customer database, effectively removing the silos of inconsistent information which existed in between different departments and separate software applications. “Previously it was impossible for our sales department to see what was happening in finance or operations, and each department had a different source of information, which was ultimately highly inefficient,” said Govea. “ediEnterprise enables us to work together as a cohesive team, and using a hosted system was just the most efficient way to operate the integrated software throughout the entire company.”

According to Gartner, Inc. this represents an ongoing trend.

“Despite ongoing economic uncertainty, the market for supply chain applications showed itself to be pretty resilient with most SCM providers continuing to expand their footprints,” said Chad Eschinger, research vice president at Gartner.

He added that North America continued to be the prime consumer of SCM software.

CargoWise has worked closely with Evolucion throughout the sales and implementation cycle, said Gene Gander Vice President Business Development – Americas for CargoWise.

He said the careful and purposeful adoption process undertaken by Evolucion Logistics bodes well for the long-term success of the implementation.

“Evolucion has been particularly conscientious when it comes to process documentation and change management, and has taken every opportunity to ensure its staff was fully trained and ready to adopt ediEnterprise in the first week of November,” said Gander.
