There were pros and cons to attending a Jesuit-run college in the 1960's. The cons had mainly to do with restrictions on your partying and socialization...but that's a subject for another day. On the pro side of the equation, however, the Jesuits introduced you to a wide range of marvelous thinkers - from Aristotle through St. Thomas Acquinas and moving steadily to Immanuel Kant. And one of the most interesting individuals in that pantheon was a fellow named Heraclitus, an early Greek philosopher who observed that the universe around him was in a constant state of flux. Pretty heavy stuff for the times. And when you combine Heraclitus' musings on the nature of change with Charles Darwin's thoughts on adaptability 2,300 years later, you basically get to the theme of this issue: Change happens so you better adapt to it! Change is a tough tiger to tame. But with some help form the insights in this issue, you can do it!
