In this episode of The Rebound, Matt Ott, president and CEO of the Global Cold Chain Alliance, discusses what’s driving the growth of the cold chain, along with developments making it possible. ASCM CEO Abe Eshkenazi and SCMR Editorial Director Bob Trebilcock are hosts.
In the recent weeks, we’ve all watched as boxes full of vaccines were loaded onto trucks for shipment to healthcare facilities. Those boxes are packed full of dry ice to maintain the extremely cold temperatures necessary to ensure the effectiveness of the vaccines. The images illustrate the importance of the cold chain supply chain in our daily lives.
But it's not just vaccines to control the outbreak of diseases. The cold chain is a key link to ensuring the safety of the food we eat and the quality of critical repair parts in heavy industry. And, with the explosion of fresh, refrigerated and frozen foods being ordered online, the ability to maintain the right temperature during processing, storage and shipping has never been more important.
On this episode of The Rebound, Matt Ott joins hosts Abe Eshkenazi and Bob Trebilcock to talk about the critical role members of the Global Cold Chain Alliance are playing in today’s supply chain along with the technologies making it possible.
