I am just weeks away from completing my second year as editor-in-chief of Supply Chain Management Review. It has been a fast two years—I can say that with certainty. Perhaps that’s because of all of the changes the industry—and the world—have undergone during this time. If anyone thinks that business moves slowly, they are mistaken.

As I looked back at all the articles that we’ve published on the pages of Supply Chain Management Review this year, I came to a realization that had not hit me month-to-month, issue-by-issue. The articles and regular columns provide useful information and insights when I look at any individual issue. But, when I looked at them collectively, I saw something different—I saw a roadmap to better supply chain management.

The articles I chose for this issue are just a roadmap sample. In some cases, they were chosen because I believe they provide an important insight; in other cases, it was because the topic already has real-world impacts; and in some cases, it is because they represent the future of supply chain management. You may, or may not, agree with my choices and that’s okay. The good news is that everything published over the past year is available to subscribers at scmr.com. I’d encourage you to browse through the issues—I promise you will
find something that will trigger an idea for your organization.

While I’m discussing the issue, I do want to share a word of thanks for our regular columnists. In each issue, they share their insights and expertise with our readers and ask for nothing in return. So, I want  to thank each of them for their efforts and hard work to help make SCMR the premier supply chain publication.

Finally, in looking ahead to 2025, what can we say? Really, what can we say? Many people are in the business of making predictions of what the market will bring in the new year. I think the reality is that none of us knows. I’d like to be optimistic that 2025 will usher in a new era of business success, a booming economy, and record revenues. But, as we’ve seen over the past few years, it’s not that simple. Disruption is the biggest determiner of success in the new normal. Some businesses are becoming adept at preparing for disruption. They will be success stories in 2025. Others are lagging. Those companies will become more visible as the year progresses.

Regardless of which company you belong to, I can assure you that Supply Chain Management Review will continue to provide a roadmap to your success in 2025.
