When heads of state and government meet at the United Nations Headquarters in New York this week, an important session will focus on making sustainable supply chains “Cruelty Free.”

International animal protection NGO Cruelty Free International and DNV GL – one of the world's leading certification bodies – will come together to demonstrate how their combined expertise can support cosmetics and personal care brands on their cruelty free journey.

“We will review progress in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” stated the new partners. “The event is the first UN summit on the SDGs since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda in September 2015.”

Cruelty Free International manages, with its partners, the globally recognizable “Leaping Bunny” program for more humane brands.

One of the things that sets Leaping Bunny approval apart from other similar plans is its requirement for companies to forensically work through their entire supply chain down to ingredient and raw material level for any cases of animal testing.

DNV GL is one of the world's leading certification bodies with over 350 offices around the world.

“So far, we have helped international cosmetics brands to engage with their complex supply chain and supported them to implement a robust and credible process of data analysis and collection and achieve Leaping Bunny approval,” said Paul Taylor, Principal Consultant on Sustainability at DNV GL. “We can use our scale and global coverage to accelerate the progress towards a cruelty-free future.”

As part of the presentation, Cruelty Free International and DNV GL will call on any companies interested in making their supply chains cruelty free, to connect with customer aspirations and get in touch for more information on becoming “Leaping Bunny approved.”
