In late May, I attended the Institute for Supply Management’s first live conference since 2019. The message from Tom Derry, ISM’s CEO, was simple: These are challenging times, but along with the challenges come opportunities for those of us who can step up and lead our organizations into the future. Supply chains have become well-known due to the disruptions and shortages caused by the pandemic. As a result, more individuals outside of supply chain roles believe they have in-depth knowledge of supply chains. This does not, however, lead to more concern about the future of global supply chains.
The pandemic has caused disruptions and shortages that have made supply chains a topic of everyday conversation. More individuals outside of the supply chain field believe they have in-depth knowledge of supply chains. Despite their level of knowledge, these individuals have varying degrees of concern about the future of global supply chains.
The infographic below presents the amount of individuals not working in the supply chain field who have in-depth knowledge about supply chains. It also presents the degree to which these individuals are worried about the future of global supply chains.
