Listen as Anne Dempsey, Executive Vice President at Colliers, and Rosemary Coates, Executive Director of the Reshoring Institute, discuss the process for selecting a new site for manufacturing and data centers, among other uses.
Anne Dempsey is an Executive Vice President at Colliers International, where she leads the only all-female team of brokers in Chicago and specializes in land disposition and acquisition for various property types.
In this episode, Anne discusses the variables that must be considered when selecting land for development including availability of power and water, access to highways, rail, airports, and seaports. In addition, supply chain professionals should provide input regarding both supplier and customer locations. Without the input of supply chain staff, companies may make a sub-optimal decision about the location of a new site.
Anne also discusses working with foreign investors who are unfamiliar with regulations, benefits, and costs of potential sites. That’s where Anne and her team provide expert guidance in the selection process.
