MIT’s Center for Transportation & Logistics is offering a free nine-week course on humanitarian logistics.
The online course runs through Sept. 25. It is free to participate in ($149 to earn a verified certificate) and is being produced in partnership with edX.
The class, aptly titled Humanitarian Logistics, is led by Dr. Jarrod Goentzel, director of the MIT Humanitarian Supply Chain Lab. It presents a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive difference in humanitarian crises, an often unsung area of the industry.
According to the course listing on edX, the program will allow participants to “apply fundamental principles and analytical models to create timely, effective, and efficient supply chain plans. You will learn about the nature of humanitarian contexts and the structure of emergency response systems in order to professionally communicate plans and coordinate operations. Principles and models in this course are adapted to apply to different planning phases: disaster preparedness, emergency response, and protracted crisis.”
