Opportunity and Risk for Sourcing in a Down Market

Live -

February 19, 2009

Sponsored by: SIG

The tide of rising prices and supply constraints has finally turned. The old adage “what goes up must come down” has never been truer than in today’s supply markets environment. Examples of price declines are astounding:

§
In early July copper traded at $8,980 per metric ton, by mid-December it was down to $2,825 – a 69% decline
§         Hot-rolled steel coil is down 50% since May
§         Sulfur is down 62% since just September
§         Crude oil has dropped 70% since July

While the switch from a supplier’s to a buyer’s market is welcomed by most supply chain professionals, sourcing in a down market brings both opportunity and risk.

In this webcast, Sourcing Interest Group (SIG) and Denali Consulting will present practical best practices and tools to address today’s supply market opportunities and risks. Now is the time for supply chain leaders to drive value and bottom-line savings in their organizations, and this webcast will help you take advantage of today’s economic challenges.

Dawn Tiura Evans, President and CEO
