Looking forward to change

February 3, 2009

February 2009 for me means it is a time of change. I have new goals for the year that I am excited to undertake and I can’t think of a better way to welcome in the New Year than making a dramatic change in the leadership of the United States. Gone are my goals from 2008, they are either recorded as completed or accepted as not. I am not lamenting in a failure, nor lauding my successes, they are now part of my past.Change, six little letters that scare many and energize some. Change, a verb that means, “to become different, or make something or somebody different.”  Personally I like the sound of that. We can all become different and we can all make something in our businesses different. Like it or not, 2009 is going to require us all to change if we want to emerge stronger, more united and in still in business. Change, the creation of a “Bad Bank” for toxic loans, the restrictions on executive compensation for firms getting substantial government aid, the creation of state tax breaks to woo jobs, balancing spending and tax breaks in the economic stimulus package. What is exciting about these changes is that we are not conducting business as usual and expecting a different outcome. At SIG we have embraced change as a way of life. We are working on new ways to improve the ROI to members, finding fresh perspectives on leadership and the economy to present at our Global Sourcing Summit and engaging providers to bring provocative content to our webinar series. As 2009 unfolds, please keep bringing us your ideas and challenge us at SIG to keep changing and adapting to our member’s needs. We welcome your insights and your comments, how else will we learn to become different or make something different? Change, bring it on. Six-letter words: change, excite, joyous, movers, wanted, winner … words I hope to be able to define as 2009!I hope to see you all in Baltimore at SIG’s Global Sourcing Summit, March 31-April 3, where you will see change in action.
