WERC’s Focus on Seaports Gains Fresh Perspective

Paul Rasmussen, U.S. trade expert and CEO of Zepol, will be joining a panel of experts examining U.S. port infrastructure at the upcoming Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) annual conference in Chicago April 27 – 30, 2014.

“U.S. Port Update: Investing in the Future” will feature a panel of three industry leaders from the East Coast, Gulf, and West Coast discussing their relative challenges and opportunities.
The current line-up includes:

*Russell Held, Director of Economic Development, The Port of Virginia

China will continue to be strong, most economists agree

yesterday, the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission gave a brief overview of the current state of the containerized ocean cargo industry.

December shipments––at 928,535––were up 8.9 percent annually and up 0.3 percent compared to November’s 926,198. The busiest month of 2016 was August, which eclipsed the 1 million shipment mark. For all of 2016, shipments were up 2.4 percent annually to 11,137,860, marking the first time in Panjiva’s shipment-tracking history they topped the 11 million mark.
