Complexity tends to increase costs. Complexity can adversely affect the resilience of your supply chain (its ability to bounce back after events). Complexity makes risk management more difficult. Complexity tends to slow down decisions and actions.

A few Chief Procurement Officers have made reducing complexity one of their key priorities. When you consider some of the benefits from reducing complexity, it is no surprise that this has become a corporate priority at “next level” companies.
