Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne In-Memory Planning Advisor was introduced recently to help material planners and buyers respond quickly to changes in supply and demand.
Spokesmen note that with the massive amount of data produced from the many SKUs created within organizations, material planners and buyers need a way to easily search through this information to understand their supply and demand needs.
“By providing interactive, graphical views allowing planners and buyers to analyze their critical planning data, the new application helps customers make better, faster decisions through real-time insight into planning information and shop floor realities,” say Oracle spokesmen.
Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne In-Memory Planning Advisor consists of two primary components that combine existing functionality of Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) /Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) with new real-time functionality in order to see all of this information in one place:
*Planning Advisor Summary: A workspace that allows planners to view summary information about their items, including current inventory on hand, days until first receipt, safety stock and lead time.
*In-Memory Planning Advisor Console: Helps planners manage fluctuating supply and demand by seeing in real-time how factors such as bringing in dates, increasing quantities or canceling supply will impact the overall supply required to meet demand.
“To deal with the challenges of today’s global economy, organizations need real-time visibility into the changes in their supply and demand planning process,” says Lyle Ekdahl, senior vice president general manager, Oracle’s JD Edwards.
He adds that by taking advantage of the extreme performance of the In-Memory Planning Advisor supply chain managers can transform their planning by providing visibility into the key components of the planning process.
“This enables organizations to make faster, better decisions that positively impact their bottom line,” says Ekdahl.
