There is anecdotal evidence that Procurement and Supply Management has regressed at some companies during the past 3 to 5 years. Once a strategic function driving significant improvements in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Procurement and SM at some companies has become a department that is expected to deliver quick hits on price, and not much else. Is that happening at your company, and – if so – why?

Four years ago, Greybeard Advisors sponsored a groundbreaking survey on the role of Supply Management, and the degree to which senior management supports a strategic role for the function at their companies. The insights from that original survey were significant.
