With some parts of the world economy already in recession, and given the recent rise in financial volatility, worries about another global recession are on the rise, notes IHS Chief Economist, Nariman Behravesh,

Today, he will discuss the following issues with SCMR:

• Manufacturing industries in many key economies are struggling
• Some large economies, including Brazil and Russia, are in deep recessions
• Commodity sectors, including oil, are (arguably) in a depression
• Financial markets have suffered a large selloff since the beginning of the year

Given all this, will the bright spots in the global economy—the United States, Northern Europe, India etc.—remain bright?

More tomorrow.
