IDTechEx forecasts $5 billion in RFID for 2008

Staff -- Supply Chain Management Review, 3/27/2008 7:01:00 AM

RFID research firm, IDTechEx, expects the RFID market to reach $5.29 billion in 2008, up 7.3 percent from the $4.93 billion for 2007. The growth projection comes despite the sharp reduction in RFID consumption with the passing of the China’s $6 billion national ID card project. The China project spanned 2007 and 2008. The firm projects a decline in income from RFID infrastructure in China, since it is largely in place now. In the United States, RFID growth will occur primarily in passports, secure access, military, heavy logistics and non-stop road tolling.
