BOSTON — Proctor & Gamble Co. has chosen an Optiant software product to help implement its new supply chain strategy, according to a recent release from Optiant.
The food and hygiene products company will use Optiant’s PowerChainTM inventory software as the vehicle for its new multi-echelon optimization and inventory placement strategy.
“At P&G we are continually looking for ways to deliver superior products to our customers faster and at the greatest value” said Barry Jacobson, Proctor & Gamble’s global supply planning process owner. “As we continue to grow globally, our focus must remain razor sharp on how to efficiently and excellently manage the shipment and supply of our 300 brands. We are looking forward to our expanded partnership with Optiant to deliver on our multi-echelon inventory planning and optimization goals.”
Optiant has a long-standing record of helping major manufacturers, including Black & Decker, Henkel, HP, IKEA and others, revamp and optimize their supply chains. Proctor & Gamble will use Optiant’s software to streamline inventory targets in its product lines.
“With increasing pressure from retailers to manage product availability on time to meet growing consumer demand, P&G needs a flexible, well-designed inventory planning and optimization solution that can cut supply chain costs and provide exceptional insight into meeting actual demand,” said Optiant CEO Jonathan Colehower. “Optiant is thrilled to be working with P&G and with the opportunity to deepen our relationship with the world’s leading consumer products manufacturer.”
Aron Olegnowicz, Proctor & Gamble’s Director of Global Supply Network Solutions, said in a typical day his company handles manufacturing and shipping of millions of cases of product from hundreds of different production centers to thousands of retailers worldwide. The use of the new software in the company’s new strategy, he said, will make managing the massive inventory much easier.
“The multi-echelon approach gives us end-to-end visibility into our supply network to ensure we make informed inventory recommendations and deliver products both efficiently and with quality,” said Aron Olegnowicz, P&G’s Director of Global Supply Network Solutions.
