A. Duie Pyle is using new software to boost its communciations network and save bandwidth.

Staff -- Supply Chain Management Review, 11/16/2009

A. Duie Pyle, a leading transportation and logistics services provider in the northeastern United States, has upgraded its communications network and enhanced its operations by adopting Qwest Communications software.

A. Duie Pyle's resources include 835 trucks and more than 2 million square feet of warehousing and distribution space. The company is using Qwest's iQ Networking system, connecting 20 of its locations with its existing network of service centers and warehouses. According to a release, A. Duie Pyle will now be able to manage its network better through differentiating between Internet and private data.

"As a geographically diverse business, we're investing in our future by working with a single provider that is capable of consolidating and managing our entire network," said Jim Dobson, director of information technology at A. Duie Pyle. "We identified a need and Qwest delivered an integrated voice and data solution tailored to address it. We continue to provide outstanding service with even greater predictability to our customers."

The goal was to give A. Duie Pyle greater interaction between offices, quick and easy access to shipment information, improved sales-information distribution, and enhanced scheduling, routing, and load planning management. The new software also frees up bandwidth for other applications that A. Duie Pyle already uses, like shipment tracking software for Pyle's customers.

"Qwest attracts new customers, like A. Duie Pyle, by developing and delivering technology solutions that solve business problems and meet quality objectives," said Chris Ancell, executive vice president of Qwest's Business Markets Group. "We're also committed to deepening relationships with existing customers by designing simplified, integrated solutions that help them evolve, compete and succeed."
