New Software to Help With 10+2 Processing

Staff -- Supply Chain Management Review, 6/24/2009

Global trade and logistics software maker Kewill has announced a new version of its Importer Security Filing (ISF) software, which will help businesses comply with 10+2 laws more easily.

The software, version 1.1, allows a company’s ISF agent to receive an EDI/XML message, such as a commercial invoice, packing list, purchase order, ISF instructions or other documents, and use that data for creating and sending the ISF to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The software can also use data in the EDI/XML message to automatically create, validate and send the ISF to customs. This concept, which the company is dubbing “hands-free” ISFs, will make for less work tracking data down.

“This release focuses on our drive to help our customers deliver more comprehensive solutions to their customers. ISFs, that may have taken minutes to produce, can now be prepared in seconds. Kewill’s customers will be able to see productivity improvements of as much as 90 percent, as a result of using the data from the EDI message to automatically produce the ISF,” said Alan Rosenblatt, product manager for Kewill ISF.

Kewill also offers software that provides for similar preparation of customs entries.

Kewill has been building software for manufacturers, distributors, retailers, freight forwarders, transport companies, customs brokers, 3PL’s and 4PL’s, as well as other related institutions involved in financing and underwriting global trade such as banks and insurance providers, for the past 35 years.

Kewill provides software to more than 40,000 users worldwide, to companies including divisions of 3M, Bayer, Caterpillar, DHL, FedEx, Ford, General Electric, General Motors, H.J. Heinz, Kimberly-Clark, Kraft, Levi Strauss, Mazda, Nestlé, Nike, Palm, Procter & Gamble, Smith & Nephew, Sony, TNT, Unilever, UPS, Vodafone, and Yamaha.
